Li-ION vs. Lead-Acid

While the initial investment in Li-ION batteries is higher than lead-acid, they offer significant long-term savings. Li-ION batteries last much longer, reducing the frequency of replacements, and they improve energy efficiency, lowering electricity costs. Additionally, they eliminate the need for battery-changing stations and dedicated labor, further reducing operational expenses.

Li-ION batteries charge significantly faster than lead-acid. They support opportunity charging, allowing operators to top off the battery during short breaks without causing damage. This eliminates the need for battery swaps and maximizes uptime, keeping forklifts running without extended downtime. With opportunity charging, a Li-ION battery can reach full charge in just two to three hours.

Li-ION batteries last significantly longer than lead-acid, often delivering up to five times the number of charge cycles. While lead-acid batteries typically last around 1,000 cycles, Li-ION can exceed 5,000, making them a more durable and cost-effective solution over time. This extended lifespan reduces replacement frequency and contributes to lower total cost of ownership.

Li-ION batteries require virtually no maintenance, unlike lead-acid batteries, which need regular watering, equalizing, and cleaning to prevent sulfation and corrosion. This not only reduces labor costs but also eliminates safety hazards associated with handling acid and fumes. By removing these maintenance demands, Li-ION batteries enhance workplace safety and streamline operations.
